A great protest against the dictatorship The 16th for the second time, a strong and cold confirming statement? Harto as dean? Naos with hundreds and thousands were pouring around the center of our beloved Tirana, awaiting a historic event, unmatched since February 1991, with speakers and ordinary Albanians alike, unmatched in every way. On the morning of 25 February 1998, from 10:00 a.m. onward, the life of the capital would tremble and be shaken under the spirit of protest, which was announcing the beginning of events that would decide the fate of freedom and democracy in Albania. It was a day which, as was shown a little later, would remain in memory for the mass determination of the people against the return of dictatorship. In the center of Tirana, crowds came from all directions, while chants, banners and the spirit of protest gave the city the appearance of a great civic mobilization. The head of Nano in Medari’s pan
